All Around The World

All Around The World

Today we have been talking about connections within our families.
We have been looking at the countries our families have connections with.
Did you know they are all over the world?!

We found some of the them on the world map.

Don't Throw That Out!

Don't Throw That Out!

Last week we were learning about keeping our school environment rubbish free. We looked in our lunch boxes and Mrs Marshall was so impressed at our rubbish free lunches. Then we read a book called 'Don't Throw That Out!' and decided that we could use some boxes and bits and pieces from our class Make It table to create something out of 'rubbish'.

The girl in the story made a dragon and we decided to do the same.
First we had to find the things we needed... a head, a neck, a body and 4 legs.

Then we glued the body parts together and made some wings and a tail out of cardboard.

After that we painted them and let them dry.

Finally we added some features like spots, eyes, ears
and of course a fire breathing tongue!

What do you think of our 'Don't Throw That Out!' dragons?

Gala Art

Room 14 Gala Art - 2017

We have been inspired by the work of Eric Carle who makes fabulous illustrations in his books using printed paper.

First we made our own printed paper...

.... and then we selected contrasting colours to make butterflies. If you click on our names across the top of our blog you can see the butterfly each person made.

Our collaborative piece of art is now for sale by silent auction.
Come and make a bid at the School Gala on Sunday April 9th - it's an original!

Seeds

Seeds
Our seeds are sitting in a warm sunny spot by the window we have been giving them water and ....
they are starting to grow!
Hopefully they will end up looking like our gorgeous marigold pictures below.

Greenfingers in Room 14!

Today we planted some seedlings and seeds to sell at the plant stall at our School Gala on the 9th April. Our big job now now is to make sure they grow!
When we went to the library today we found some books on growing plants and seeds so we're going to find out what we need to do.
Thanks to Anne and Mrs Martin for all their hard work.
